ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK - LAND OF DRY

Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s most extraordinary safari destinations, offering an unparalleled wildlife experience against the backdrop of the vast Etosha Pan. This immense salt pan dominates the park’s landscape, attracting vast herds of wildlife and creating a striking contrast between shimmering white expanses and surrounding grasslands. Etosha is home to some of Africa’s most iconic species, including large elephant herds, lions, black rhinos, and an abundance of plains game. With its well-established waterholes, diverse ecosystems, and excellent road network, Etosha is a premier destination for both self-drive and guided safaris.

Wildlife

  • Elephants & Rhinos – Etosha is home to some of Africa’s largest elephant herds and one of the most significant populations of black rhinos, making it a crucial stronghold for this endangered species.

  • Big Cats – Lions, cheetahs, and leopards are frequently sighted, particularly near waterholes where prey congregates.

  • Plains Game – Springbok, oryx, zebra, wildebeest, and kudu are among the many antelope species thriving in the park.

  • Hyenas & Jackals – Spotted hyenas, black-backed jackals, and brown hyenas are often seen scavenging or hunting in the open plains.

Weather & Best Time to Visit

  • Green Season (November–April) – Lush landscapes, dramatic thunderstorms, and an influx of migratory birds. While wildlife is more dispersed, the scenery is spectacular, and baby animals are born during this period.

Etosha offers a safari experience unlike any other, where wildlife thrives in an arid yet striking landscape. From watching elephants at floodlit waterholes to tracking big cats across open plains, the park delivers unforgettable encounters with some of Africa’s most iconic species. With its diverse range of accommodations, excellent infrastructure, and breathtaking scenery, Etosha remains one of Namibia’s greatest treasures—an essential destination for any safari enthusiast.
