This is a place where the wild thrives in its purest form, offering you the chance to explore vast landscapes and observe iconic wildlife in an environment that remains as it always has been.

The South Luangwa National Park, one of Zambia’s hidden gems, is known for its remote tranquillity. The park’s secluded woodlands and riverbanks provide a sanctuary for a diverse range of wildlife, from the elusive leopard to the mighty elephant. Zambia’s walking safaris are an exceptional way to connect with the land, offering a sense of intimacy and solitude that’s difficult to find elsewhere.

Zambia’s charm extends beyond its wildlife. In the more remote regions, the pace of life slows, and visitors can experience the country’s rich heritage and the warmth of its people. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT ZAMBIA

luiwa weather

Zambia is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on what you want to experience. Whether you're looking for wildlife encounters, stunning landscapes, or outdoor activities, Zambia’s seasons offer something unique.

May – October: The Best Time for Safaris

The dry season from May to October is ideal for safaris. With thinner vegetation and animals congregating around water sources, game viewing is easier. Daytime temperatures are mild, while mornings and evenings can be cooler. This period is perfect for wildlife sightings and walking safaris in South Luangwa, Lower

Zambezi, and Kafue National Park.

The Zebra and Wildebeest Migration (May – October)

From May to October, large herds of zebra and wildebeest migrate through Liuwa Plain National Park. This seasonal migration is one of Africa's hidden gems, offering a fascinating spectacle as the animals move in search of grazing land, attracting predators along the way.

November – April: The Green Season

The rainy season, from November to April, brings lush green landscapes and fewer tourists. It’s an excellent time for birdwatching as migratory birds flock to Zambia. However, some areas may be less accessible due to flooding. This period is great for exploring Lower Zambezi, Kafue, and other wetlands.

Mid-Summer Closures and Accessibility (November – April)

During the rainy season, from November to April, certain parks like South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi may experience seasonal closures or limited access due to flooding. However, this quieter period is perfect for those seeking solitude and offers excellent birdwatching, with many areas still accessible for safaris.

June – November: The Best Time for Lower Zambezi and Victoria Falls

The dry season from June to November is ideal for visiting Lower Zambezi and Victoria Falls. Water levels are lower, providing clear views of the falls and better conditions for activities like boat trips and fishing along the Zambezi River.

February – May: The Best Time for Victoria Falls

From February to May, the Zambezi River reaches its highest water levels, creating dramatic views at Victoria Falls. The falls are most powerful during this period, and it’s the best time for photography, with lush greenery surrounding the falls.

Zambia offers exceptional wildlife, stunning landscapes, and unique seasonal experiences. Whether you're visiting during the dry season for safaris or the green season for birdwatching, Zambia has something special to offer year-round
